DAQ configuration - attachments 1-9 Setting up CAEN V767 TDC Note that to perform timing with the leading edge of the input logic signals you need to select `rising edge' timing. The following procedure for changing CAEN V767 settings _reliably_ appears to work: 1) Halt data acquisition 2) From MIDAS Main Menu window select VME Module Control -> CAEN V767 3) From CAEN V767 TDC Setup & Monitor window _de-select_ -> Act on ALL Modules? 4) From CAEN V767 TDC Setup & Monitor window select the first TDC module whose setting you wish to change 5) From CAEN V767 TDC Setup & Monitor window select Expert -> Disable Auto Load 6) Change CAEN V767 module settings as required 7) From CAEN V767 TDC Setup & Monitor window select Expert -> Save User Configuration 8) From CAEN V767 TDC Setup & Monitor window select Expert -> Enable Auto Load 9) Repeat steps 4-8 for any other CAEN V767 TDC modules whose settings you wish to change 10) From CAEN V767 TDC Setup & Monitor window select Save Setup 11) From MIDAS Data Acquisition Experiment Control window select Setup -> Setup Everything 12) If you reboot the VME PowerPC CPU do NOT forget to set the TDC(s) in common stop mode From MIDAS Data Acquisition Experiment Control window select Advanced -> Configuration/Test/Debug Frame and confirm the request. Settings should be: TDC Mode: Common Stop TDC Hit Option: all TDC Referemce: 0 (usually) edinburgh (w23) network configuration edinburgh> cat /etc/inet/hosts # # Internet host table # # # Merged entries from ipnodes into hosts on <Tue Aug 5 18:29:10 BST 2008> # Backup files saved in /etc/inet/ directory: hosts.premerge, ipnodes.premerge # 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.11.118 edinburgh loghost egmsg loghost 192.168.1.25 w23daq # w23 DAQ port (bge1) 192.168.1.1 ppc0 192.168.1.2 ppc1 192.168.1.3 ppc2 192.168.1.4 ppc3 192.168.1.5 ppc4 192.168.1.6 ppc5 edinburgh> cat /etc/inet/ipnodes # # Internet host table # # # Merged entries from ipnodes into hosts on <Tue Aug 5 18:29:10 BST 2008> # Backup files saved in /etc/inet/ directory: hosts.premerge, ipnodes.premerge # ::1 localhost 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.11.118 edinburgh loghost edinburgh> cat /etc/inet/netmasks # # The netmasks file associates Internet Protocol (IP) address # masks with IP network numbers. # # network-number netmask # # The term network-number refers to a number obtained from the Internet Network # Information Center. # # Both the network-number and the netmasks are specified in # "decimal dot" notation, e.g: # # 128.32.0.0 255.255.255.0 # 192.168.11.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 edinburgh> cat /etc/ethers 08:00:3e:2b:59:76 ppc0 # TRIUMF, TUDA 00:01:af:0b:11:22 ppc1 # INFN LNGS, LUNA 00:01:af:0b:10:7a ppc2 # u/s 00:01:af:09:86:88 ppc3 00:01:af:08:2c:38 ppc4 00:01:af:09:df:db ppc5 00:01:af:09:86:83 ppc6 # u/s 00:14:4f:9b:6e:7a edinburgh edinburgh> cat /etc/defaultrouter 192.168.11.255 edinburgh> ls -l /tftpboot total 6798 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 54 Sep 16 2012 C0A80101.fstab -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Sep 16 2012 C0A80101.hosts -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 54 Sep 16 2012 C0A80102.fstab -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Sep 16 2012 C0A80102.hosts -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 54 Sep 16 2012 C0A80103.fstab -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Sep 16 2012 C0A80103.hosts -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 54 Sep 16 2012 C0A80104.fstab -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Sep 16 2012 C0A80104.hosts -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 54 Sep 29 2012 C0A80105.fstab -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Sep 29 2012 C0A80105.hosts -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 54 Sep 29 2012 C0A80106.fstab -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Sep 29 2012 C0A80106.hosts -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 54 Sep 29 2012 C0A80107.fstab -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Sep 29 2012 C0A80107.hosts -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3457024 Sep 16 2012 lynxos.netboot lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 1 Sep 16 2012 tftpboot -> . edinburgh> cd /tftpboot /tftpboot edinburgh> ls edinburgh> foreach f (`ls C*`) foreach? echo $f foreach? cat $f foreach? end C0A80101.fstab w23daq:/MIDAS/LynxOS_MCG_Release/3.1.0/ppc:/rootfs:rw C0A80101.hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.25 w23daq loghost egmsg 192.168.1.1 ppc0 C0A80102.fstab w23daq:/MIDAS/LynxOS_MCG_Release/3.1.0/ppc:/rootfs:rw C0A80102.hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.25 w23daq loghost egmsg 192.168.1.2 ppc1 C0A80103.fstab w23daq:/MIDAS/LynxOS_MCG_Release/3.1.0/ppc:/rootfs:rw C0A80103.hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.25 w23daq loghost egmsg 192.168.1.3 ppc2 C0A80104.fstab w23daq:/MIDAS/LynxOS_MCG_Release/3.1.0/ppc:/rootfs:rw C0A80104.hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.25 w23daq loghost egmsg 192.168.1.4 ppc3 C0A80105.fstab w23daq:/MIDAS/LynxOS_MCG_Release/3.1.0/ppc:/rootfs:rw C0A80105.hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.25 w23daq loghost egmsg 192.168.1.5 ppc4 C0A80106.fstab w23daq:/MIDAS/LynxOS_MCG_Release/3.1.0/ppc:/rootfs:rw C0A80106.hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.25 w23daq loghost egmsg 192.168.1.6 ppc5 C0A80107.fstab w23daq:/MIDAS/LynxOS_MCG_Release/3.1.0/ppc:/rootfs:rw C0A80107.hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.25 w23daq loghost egmsg 192.168.1.7 ppc6 17.07 Hamamatsu PIN photodiode Ortec 142B preamp -> Ortec 572 tau=0.5us gain = 1x 1.0x 50x -ve input, delay OUT Range = 50 * 20mV/MeV = 1V/MeV Silena 9418/6V ADC 7.2V FSR => range = c. 7.2MeV nominal => c. 2.2keV/ch Pulser peak width 4.2ch FWHM ADC & TDC spectra with DSSSDs (bias = -170V) and PIN PD (bias = -30V) - attachments 9-11 ADC spectra ch 3840 = 17MeV nominal => c. 4.4keV/ch Typical peak width ~3-4 ch FWHM = c. 13-17keV FWHM TDC spectra 1LSB = 0.8ns Typical peak width c. 1-2ch FWHM (p+n strips) c. 5ch FWHM (n+n strips) Note - no data for first TDC channel - reason currently unknown 17.20 MIDAS DAQ configuration - attachment 12 3x Silena 9418/6V ADCs RTP=0=2us, LLD=8=64 channels (ADC#1 at top of VME V430 crate, ADC#3 lowest slot) 1x CAEN V767 TDC common stop mode 1x CAEN V560 Scaler
