  17   Fri Oct 24 15:05:28 2014 Patrick and Alfredonew VHDL: FEE_Riken_Apr14_21.bin

New VHDL loaded in NNAIDA#11,#12,#13,#14: /MIDAS/Aida/FEE_Riken_Apr14_21.bin

The code introduces the feature of turning ON or OFF individual ASICs in a FEE64 card. This is achieved by turning off the clock signal to a individual ASIC, which then will not produce any data.

Feature controled through "ASIC readout bugger and control", by register onn base address 0x300 and offset 7 (until now 'ASIC readout enable').

Only basic tests of new VHDL were done, but the system seems to be working as before and the operation of turning off individual ASICs works as expected. Screenshot is sample of turning off ASIC3 in NNAIDA#12.

Yes - nnaida19 histogramming appears to have started working as mysteriously as it stopped.

However, although nnaida19 ReSYNCs the timestamp appears to wander (see attachment 3) and
nnaida19 still fails the ASIC timestamp and SYNC errors not counting system-wide tests.
Ideas anyone?

  82   Wed Apr 29 18:12:02 2015 AEonline analysis code
A first online analysis code is running now in Desktop 4 aidas1

The source code and executable are in

/homes/npg/AIDAonline

The following command launches the program from the above directory:

aidas1> ./AIDA-online.exe

The code is set to update histograms every 10e6 events (about once per minute?).

Otherwise, click on the terminal running the program and press any key. This will produce the following menu:

online monitor is paused;
press 0 <Enter> to stop, 1 <Enter> to restart;

If <1> is selected the histogram are updated and the execution is continued.

If <0> is selected the program requests a confirmation and then exits (without saving the histograms, that's the
next step).

A few (interesting) screenshots attached.

99   Mon May 4 12:10:35 2015 AEonline monitor and data transfer

Online monitor program for AIDA is in  /homes/npg/AIDAonline

The program is now running in Desktop#4 of aidas1, with mode to forward data to BRIKEN PC enabled (if more than one instance forwarding data are running, the code could get stalled).

The current code identifies implant and decays candidates by conditions on hit multiplicity, energy of n-side vs p-side, and cluster size. These are noted with the implant-flag and decay_flag variables, which are transmitted in the data buffer to the BRIKEN PC. If the flags are greater than one these are candidated for implants or decays at different DSSDs (valid codes, 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 13; for now the program looks for implants in DSSD #2 and #3, and decays in all 3 DSSDs).

A few sample histograms from analyzing run R53_20 are attached

Online spectra to monitor condition during run R51.

Position and energy spectra indicate implantation in 2nd DSSD.

Tracking spectra is consistent with a larger beam angle on the horizontal direction.

306   Sat Jun 11 10:29:16 2016 AE, TD, LHBsynchronization between different FEEs
file AIDA10_20: stopped on June 10, 14:59
file AIDA10_40: stopped on June 10, 16:16

Time different between pulser peaks, in microseconds (ts/100), for the four groups shown in the attached plots:

AIDA10_20: 2593, 2628, 2593
AIDA10_40: 2618, 2600, 2618

Measurement consistent with a time difference of 2600 usec (there is an error of 32 usec as we're using the data
from the slow comparator)

The two runs also show the same pattern of which FEEs have the same timestamp for the pulser event

Attachment 3, for run AIDA34, corresponds to a case after we had managed to resynchronize all FEEs

  92   Sat May 2 19:17:25 2015 AEtime-stamp for event reconstruction
Some first analysis of building events to look for implants and decays

Using both DISC and slow comparator values for time-stamp (whatever is available). Clearly there are some ADC
hits with a very early value for their corresponding time-stamp, that result in negative or very large dTS
values. Probably safer to use only ADC data for now (it's likely the simple algorithm used to correlate
discriminator hits and ADC hits can not cope with current conditions of ADC hits >> DISC hits):

time_stamp_dist_disc.png

Comparing analysis of file R51_3 for the two conditions: using the Fast discriminator data when available for
low energy range, or using only the time-stamp from the ADC hits.

The first two figures (time_stamp_dist_disc.png, XY_implant_disc_R51.png) are for including DISC hits as
time-stamp for event building: some have much smaller values than corresponding ADC hits, so the event is cut
short and we see a small number of identified implants.

Second set of plots is the same data but using only the timestamp for the slow comparator of the low energy
range. The number of identified events is much higher (compare 'Integral' value of the stats box).
