CG | Sunday 20 November | 11.20 FEE temps and bias leakages ok (attachments 1-3).
However, stats screen shows no SYNCs being issued and no "Good Events" (attachment 4).
Stop and Go had no effect -> SYNCs output but SYNC related system checks failed (attachment 5+6).
Carried out Reset and Setup and returned to normal operation.
17.20 FEE temps and bias leakage currents ok (attachments 7+8).
DAQ still running ok.
BigRIPS tuning through ZDS for next expt.

am Testing various grounding configurations for the connection between the DSSSD and the FEE64 modules.

1700: Summary of AM testing of grounding configurations.
Set up system as it was when we left last night to check reproducibility -> peak FWHMs all same to within 10%.
Throughout tests yesterday, nnaida8 was consistently worse than the other nnaida, why? Can it be improved?
Most obvious difference between 8 and the rest was that the nose was grounded through nnaida8.
Removed nose grounding cable and left to hang -> no appreciable difference in FWHMs.
It was then attached to the Cu piping using a croc clip -> no change.
Connected to nnaida6 -> no change.
The heavy duty Cu braiding was removed from all nnaida and the pulser FWHM in all nnaida increase significantly.
=> clearly the braiding is helping.
Put Cu braiding back in place and added shielding plates to nnaida1,3,8 (kapton in way on nnaida5/6, also useful as a reference point).
Each shield plate was fit onto the set screws with two spacers and sat over the kaptons, black tape was put over the vias to prevent them touching the plates.
No change with respect to the first measurements this morning.
=> the grounding changes implemented today have had no effect at the current noise level, but that is not to say they may not have an effect in combination with production detectors, new kaptons etc.
1715: Tested the new USB mains power switches for function (without load). All seem to function correctly and are controllable from the RPi.

Found that pulser induces counts in some HEC (nnaida20, 14 in particular). See attachment 15. Pulser off
removes these events completely.
These events could be mistaken for implantation events during data acquisition.
Increasing the fast comparator threshold HEC from 2 -> 3 suppresses the events. Increasing the threshold
to 4 does not appear to have further effects.
Even with the increased threshold some HEC (e.g. 1.0H) still see the pulser. See attachment 16 (fast
comparator threshold HEC was 0x3).
Checked data is synchronised in file R32_33

Have checked all detectors and rates and pulser peak widths are still good across the board

DSSD2 (3058-25) would not bias, either short circuit or suspiciously low leakage current.
Carried out some test in situ which were inconclusive.
Removed snout and took DSSD2 out.
Measuring the resistance across the two pins providing the n+n bias yielded 20 Ohms.
For the p+n the same measurement saw an open circuit => at least one of the bond wires broken.
DSSD1 (3131-9) was moved into the DSSD2 position and DSSD1 is now BB18-1000 3058-4.
All detectors were biased downstairs and all looked fine - leakage currents of 3.1 - 3.8 uA.
First detector sits 54.5cm from Al base plate and 10cm from the upstream end of the snout.
9mm between each of the DSSDs.
Stack now:

207Bi source installed at end of snout.
Snout moved upstairs and mounted.

I suggest you check the hdmi hasn't been disturbed in the Macb or the FEE64.. Since the others are ok. I suggest it is the cable from the
Macb
